As you know, Bankers' Conference (BANCON) is an annual event, I am happy to inform you that this year's conference is being hosted by Bank of Baroda with the organizational support of Indian Banks' Association (IBA).

I have great pleasure in inviting you to BANCON 2007, scheduled on 26th and 27th November 2007 at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai.

You will agree that over the years, BANCON has emerged as a powerful platform for Indian banking to address and deliberate on a wide range of developmental and operational issues. Different themes of topical interest to the industry have engaged the attention of the participants from time to time.

The theme of this year's Conference: "Indian Banking - Towards Global Best Practices" - seeks to highlight the relevance and significance of Global Best Practices to the Indian Banking Sector, even as it prepares to face the challenges of global competition post-2009. In these days of significant customer churn and rising costs, it becomes critical to know how players in the Indian banking sector compare globally on customer experience and how the banking industry compares with other consumer industries like Telecom, Airlines and Retail, on customer experience.

Besides rising focus on customer experience, the Indian banking sector is set to witness increasing segmentation. The traditional business systems are likely to undergo a radical change with discontinuities in technology and distribution. In this context, how does the Indian banking sector compare with global best practices? The Conference will seek to deliberate and develop thought processes on these issues. To share the insight into global best practices, I am happy to inform that the world renowned consultancy firm M/s McKinsey & Company has agreed to be the Knowledge Partner for the Conference.

I look forward to your participation in the Conference and would request you to diarize the event.
